An ancient religious center and Baroque marvel

Located in Hesse, Fulda once trained the missionaries who converted modern Germany to Christianity. Later on, in the 17th and 18th centuries, the city underwent a spectacular face-lift, acquiring some of the most beautiful Baroque architecture in Europe. And it's now a transport hub, largely thanks to its location at the heart of Germany.

Studying and Working in Fulda

Academically, life in Fulda revolves around the Fulda University of the Applied Sciences (HF). Created in 1974, the university awards Bachelor's and Master's degrees, along with Ph.D. qualifications, and specializes in computer science, business administration, food technology, nursing, and social work. It tends to cater to Fulda's service-based economy, training care and educational professionals, as well as business managers.

The city itself is lively and down to earth, with a vibrant live music scene, and it's not too far from prosperous Hessian cities like Frankfurt am Main, so prospects are good for those who want to enter the finance or information technology sectors.
