An ancient city with a forward-thinking population

Located in North Rhine-Westphalia, Detmold was once the site of a famous battle, where German tribes defeated the Roman Empire. Nowadays, this small city is a prosperous manufacturing and trading center, with a vibrant education sector and excellent transport links to regional hubs like Hanover, Dusseldorf, and Dortmund. It's also close to some beautiful scenery, such as the famous Externsteine rock formations of the Teutoburg Forest.
