TK-Flex: Adjust services, receive cashback
From seven different health services listed, you can choose up to five that don't fit your unique needs. You'll receive a cashback of €18 for each service that you have opted out of - up to €90 cashback annually1 for the next three years!
If you make use of one of the services you have chosen, you are still entitled to health insurance coverage from TK. However, you will partially be required to cover the costs incurred by yourself (a maximum of €120 per year).
Choose up to five services that you are unlikely to use:
Alternative medicines, homeopathy, and osteopathy
- Outpatient and inpatient preventive and rehabilitation cures
- Household help, nursing home care, and short-term care
- Professional tooth cleaning
- Travel protection vaccinations & malaria prophylaxis for private trips abroad
- Additional benefits during pregnancy (medicines, birth preparation courses for partners, on-call service by midwives)
A few steps to your Student Visa

Activate
After activating your blocked account and TK health insurance, you will receive an email to activate TK-Flex. Or you can visit the TK website directly. Remember: TK-Flex is an elective tariff and not mandatory!

Visit the TK-Flex page and select up to 5 services that you want to opt out of. For every service you opt out of, you will receive €18 cashback (up to €90 annually) for the next three years.

Visa paperwork
You'll need: passport, biometric photo, certificate of enrollment, proof of: finances, health insurance, and residence; plus the visa application filled out.

What is TK-Flex?
TK-Flex is an elective tariff that allows you to opt out of certain health insurance services as part of your TK health insurance coverage. In return, you receive a cashback for every service you opt out of. You can choose to opt out of a maximum of five services out of seven. You can find more information on our TK-Flex page.
Who can take part in TK-Flex?
TK-Flex is an elective tariff and is only available for eligible TK health insurance customers.
Which services can you deselect in TK-Flex?
You can choose up to five out of seven of the listed services to opt out of. The services are as follows:
- Alternative medicines, homeopathy, and osteopathy

How is the TK cashback and deductibles calculated?
You will receive €18 cashback for each service package you have chosen to opt out of. You will receive your TK cashback in the following month after you have opted for the TK-Flex tariff.
The deductible is the amount of money you, as the insured person, pay as part of your insurance claim before the rest of the cost is paid by your insurer.
The deductible is €24 for each service package that has been deselected/opted out of. It is only due if you make use of one or more of the services you have chosen to deselect/opt out of. You will settle the costs with TK in the following year.
Where can I get TK-Flex and the TK Cashback?
Simply deselect your services and login in with your health insurance identification number that you receive from TK.
What if I need services that I opted out of/deselected?
ÃŽf you make use of one of the services you have deselected, you will be required to part of the costs incurred yourself - your deductible also depends on the number of services deselected, but is a maximum of 120 euros per year.

How long is the TK-Flex valid?
Your participation begins on the 1st of the following month after TK has received your application for TK-Flex via the TK website. You are bound to your choice of tariff for three years, after which your participation ends automatically.
If you would like to cancel your TK membership, this is only possible at the end of the tariff period.

Both of these policies are the same. TK-Flex is the shortened name you will see across the Expatrio website.
When will I receive my TK Cashback?
If you are eligible for the TK Cashback from TK, you will receive your cashback the following month after the start of your TK-Flex health insurance coverage.
For example, if the start date of your health insurance coverage is on the 01.09.23, then you will be paid your cashback by TK on the 01.10.23 (for the period 01.09.23-31.08.24).
