Course description

The Faculty of Life Sciences offers academic programs that meet high international standards. They encourage and facilitate study abroad through partnerships with foreign universities. The program is taught in English, attracting a significant number of international students, which highlights its global appeal. For bachelor graduates in agricultural, environmental, or economic sciences, the M.Sc. program in Agricultural Economics provides excellent opportunities to compete in the international academic job market. This program integrates economics and social sciences within the agricultural and food sectors. It aligns with the institute's core research theme: the governance of sustainable food and land use systems. Mandatory modules include Institutional Economics and Political Economy, Public Policy Analysis, Microeconomics, Econometrics, and Quantitative Methods in Agricultural Business Economics. Students can choose from about 25 elective modules, covering a wide range of qualitative and quantitative methods and applications. Research projects tackle real-world issues in food and land use systems. Additionally, students can select optional courses from other academic institutions. Graduates find careers in agribusiness, insurance, banking, finance, national and international organizations (EU, FAO, OECD), development cooperation, NGOs, and agricultural R&D.
